Age plays an important part in whether you can get approved for Social Security disability benefits. Here are some numbers form 2017:

AGE CASES APPROVED

40-49 42%

50-54 49%

55-59 57%

60-65 62%

Why does age matter so much? There are two reasons:

  1. As we age we are more likely to develop medical conditions that Social Security will approve.

  2. Special "grid rules" or Medical-vocational guidelines" are favorable to claimants age 50 and over.

What is the advantage of using a lawyer to get SSDI or SSI benefits?

APPROVAL WITHOUT A LAWYER APPROVAL WITH A LAWYER

33% 60%

Social Security disability is hard to get. Provide yourself with every possible advantage as you enter the fight for approval. The numbers make it difficult to argue against finding a lawyer to assist you in this battle.
