New TrumpRX.gov may save you big money on Prescription drugs

The US Government just launched a new website that claims extensive savings on many prescription drugs, including weight loss prescriptions.

TrumpRX.gov  claims the following discounts, as examples, of savings:

Wegovy Pill          Originally $1,349       Discount Price $149

Wgovy Pen           Originally $1,349       Discount Price $199

Ozempic                Originally $1,028      Discount Price $199

The website claims that many other commonly prescribed drugs have been discounted, too, and other drugs will be added in future.

TrumpRX.gov does not sell or dispense drugs.  Your doctor will still send your prescriptions to your chosen pharmacy and the pharmacy, supposedly, may fill the prescription at the discounted price.  

There is a protection, however, for the pharmacy.  The pharmacy is not required to sell any drug at a cost below the price paid by the pharmacy.

Based on early information available about TrumpRX.gov, insurance companies do not participate in the plan.  The prices on the website assume that the patient is paying cash for the drug.
