TRUMP, DOGE AND SOCIAL SECURITY

DOGE and Elon Musk may have some negative impacts on the Social Security Administration.
That being said, Social Security benefits are NOT purposely being "reduced," or "cut," or delayed. Those rumors--and that's all they are--are unfounded and simply not true. Even so, they have caused a panic among persons who get Social Security benefits, understandably so. We fear uncertainty.
However, Social Security is a very fragile agency. It is already under-staffed, poorly funded and over worked. Waiting times for a new disability application average around 280 days, far too long. With long delays and slow processing, it isn't the time to cut Social Security's administrative budget.
Of course there is waste and inefficiency at Social Security. One of my biggest complaints is that there seems to be a total lack of accountability for Social Security employees. If there is any supervision or accountability, it doesn't show to those who deal with them every day.
What should we do? Communicate with your congressional representatives. Tell them that you support eliminating fraud and waste in Social Security but not reducing operational funding or reducing staff when Social Security is already backlogged and too far behind.
