WHAT A LAWYER ADDS TO YOUR SSDI CASE

While you are technically not required to use a lawyer when dealing with Social Security, it certainly can give you a leg up on the notoriously difficult process.

So, what exactly will a disability lawyer do for you? Here are some things they do:

  • Evaluating if you have a case and a chance to be approved.

  • Reviewing medical records.

  • Contacting medical providers.

  • Requesting copies of records.

  • Deciding on a legal strategy to get your case approved and paid.

  • Double-checking the accuracy of your disability application or helping you complete it.

  • Preparing documentation to appeal a denied application.

  • Petitioning a judge to approve your denied claim without a hearing.

  • Representing your case if an appeal is denied.

  • Appearing before a judge with you if a hearing is required (as is often the case).

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) states that you are 2.9 times more likely to be approved if you are represented by a lawyer or experienced advocate. Think about how much this improves the otherwise dismal odds of approval.

If the Forsythe Firm represents you, it will be on a contingency fee basis. This means there will never be a fee unless you are approved and receive past due benefits.
